Legal Counsel

Job Description

We are looking for a Legal Counsel with experience in the biotech industry. Reporting to the General Counsel and supporting all legal activities as stated below.

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of commercial and corporate agreements, such as R&D services agreements, material transfer agreements, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, software, and technology agreements, joint venture, and partnership agreements, leases, and other property maintenance agreements
  • Assisting with the management of contract administration and liaising with internal R&D and business departments on contract interpretation
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating and providing legal support to the business development group in connection with collaboration agreements at all stages, including confidentiality agreements, term sheets and definitive agreements, as well as liaising between the company and outside legal counsel as necessary
  • Drafting minutes and other corporate documents
  • Procurement process (the reagents for the labs)
  • Insurance issues
  • Keeping current with the laws, regulations and judicial developments affecting such business activities

Job Requirements

  • Legal degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated legal experience as a practicing attorney; experience in the biotech field; combination of large law firm and in-house training and experience preferred
  • Responsive and service-oriented attitude
  • Flexible working hours due to different time zones
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize competing deadlines to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently and to meet timelines
  • Creativity and good problem-resolution skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • English mother tongue level
  • Ability to work from home
  • Significant exposure to and understanding of commercial, biotechnology or pharma licensing out, research and development agreements – must 
  • Familiarity with or willingness to quickly acquire familiarity with technical terms
  • Knowledge of the following aspects: Intellectual Property (preferably for biologics), R&D related agreements, biotech-related commercialization agreements and collaborations
  • Discretion and the ability to keep matters confidential
  • Temporary position for 6 months
